I AM dumbfounded by the reports from the Royal Welsh Show saying that unions are suggesting farmers should spot-slaughter badgers on their land. This is the worst possible course of action imaginable.

Following the news that the WAG's planned cull is illegal, the sense of relief among my neighbours has been replaced with disbelief, as we are encouraged by our leaders to take matters into our own hands. "Reactive" culling would, according to the ISG (the body that carried out the most comprehensive study ever done into the control of bTB) cause bTB to worsen drastically in neighbouring areas as badgers flee the area.
