Wales, June 21 - the longest day of the year. And the extra hours of daylight suited the nation's 24-hour lifestyle to a tee as shoppers crowded late-night stores throughout the evening. In the year when Tesco's dominance led to the term 'Tescopoly' it was no surprise to see the supermarket bustling into the night, especially with daylight lasting until beyond 10pm.

Elsewhere around 17,000 people gathered at Stonehenge for the Summer Solstice celebrations.
