Growing up in northern California, our history lessons were concerned with the Gold Rush and George Washington rather than the history of Wales.
I became fascinated by Wales and its history after reading the award-winning fiction of Susan Cooper. The use of Welsh, and the history, folklore, and literature of Wales made quite an impression on my 11-year-old mind.
