Image: Overgrown schoolboy Best known for: Playing Ian Beale in EastEnders Early life: Born June 28, 1968, in Walthamstow, London. He is only one of a handful of EastEnders' cast members who really are from the East End. He knew from a young age he wanted to act, and after graduating from the Sylvia Young Theatre School, started out with a starring role in 1983's children's drama The Baker Street Boys. He then worked as a butcher in Wales before landing the role of Ian Beale.

He has also presented Value For Money, Dreamhouse and National Lottery Live. He's an avid Star Trek fan, and appeared in a BBC Two themed night dedicated to the show. Adam supports Liverpool FC and enjoys cricket, fishing, football, golf and cycling. Love life: Married dancer Beverly Sharp at Disney World, Florida, in 1998.
