Supermarkets

Each year they expand and develop and take a bigger and bigger chunk of our income.

They have evolved with our changing lifestyles and grown ever more sophisticated in keeping our custom.

It is now quite possible to do all your shopping in some of the stores as they branch out from food to clothes, homeware, furniture, electrical goods and toys. It is probably quite possible to live in them too as they provide cafes and restaurants, dry-cleaning outlets, photo-developing services, funeral services and creches. They are not so much super-markets as mini-towns.

Best of all, as far as many of us are concerned, it is even possible to shop at your favourite store without ever having to cross its threshold. Most supermarkets now offer easy-to-use internet shopping and will deliver your weekly, or even monthly, shop to your front door.
