IN 1999, the National Assembly had four party leaders: Alun Michael, Dafydd Wigley, Rod Richards and Mike German.
Mr Michael was forced from office with the threat of a vote of no confidence looming. Mr Wigley had to step down due to faltering health after experiencing heart problems.
