THE true cost of Wales' heroin habit has been revealed, with figures showing thousands of recovering addicts are being treated with opiate replacement drugs.

Substitute drugs are being supplied to at least 2,900 people in a treatment package costing an estimated pounds 4m annually, when all associated costs are factored in.
