Train Fares Slashed in Bid to Lure Tourists to Wales

Summary

Train fares between London and South Wales have been cut to pounds 25 return or pounds 50 first-class return, in an effort to boost the tourism trade. The bargain fares by First Great Western are available from London Paddington and Reading stations only, and are exclusive to people who have booked overnight accommodation in South Wales. Customers are not restricted to specific trains, although they cannot travel during the morning peak hours into London or out of London after 3pm.

The offer covers stations as far west as Carmarthen and was organised by FGW and Capital Region Tourism (CRT), which promotes leisure visits to South East Wales.
