SIR - During the first few months of World War II our public information services successfully prepared this country for a completely different way of life, just through posters, radio and newspaper bulletins, and by treating the public as intelligent grown- ups.

Over the past year, and now with pamphlets through every letterbox, this Government and the BBC have insulted the intelligence of the British people with their so-called information on the digital switchover, which seems aimed at the under-fives.
