Trish Law Slams Ryder Cup Spending Spree in Ireland

A row blew up last night after it emerged that the Welsh Assembly Government ran up a bill of pounds 236,000 at last month's Ryder Cup event in Ireland. The size of the bill was condemned by Blaenau Gwent AM Trish Law, who said the money could have made a huge impact if it had been spent in her constituency. The Independent AM said she was not opposed to sending a delegation of observers to the K Club in County Kildare to learn lessons for the staging of the 2010 Ryder Cup at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport.

'Hosting the Ryder Cup is a massive logistical operation and it would have been right and proper to send a handful of representatives,' said Mrs Law.
