Paul Turner allowed himself a smile on Saturday night. Rare it might have been, but for the Dragons coach victory over Ulster in the Magners League at Rodney Parade not only ended a four-game wait for a win, but it provided fresh evidence that this season might not be the lost cause that many believed it would be.

Of course a second success of the season has done little to convince the harshest of critics that the campaign will be anything less than a struggle. However, the return from World Cup duty of Ceri Sweeney, Michael Owen and Kevin Morgan and the impending return of Colin Charvis and Paul Emerick will certainly help."It's been a difficult start to the season and we have thrown away the chance of winning at least two games. But this was better and, although we made mistakes along the way, I was delighted to see the manner in which we played."
