Getting set up: It's very simple. Just head for twitter.com, choose a username (usually your name with @ in front, ours is @societalweb) and sign up. You can change your background and profile picture - have a look at other people's for ideas.

Once you've got your own profile sorted, you can start to find other people. The tweets from your followers will show up on your home page. Now start posting your own messages. You can't say much in 140 characters so you need to get straight to the point. If you want to direct a tweet at one person, write their username - @societalweb - before the message. You can also send private messages by writing D societalweb.
