UPLAND areas of Wales, including the national parks, should play an increasing role in future food production, farmers have urged.

With the prospects of an uncertain climate, oil-based fertiliser shortages and an exploding world population, they say these mostly inaccessible areas could be making "a serious contribution" to sustainability and food supply - from the valleys as well as the hills.
