There were some reservations when John Toshack took over because he had been pretty critical of a lot of the players, myself included, while working as a pundit on radio and TV. He was on a lot, and always seemed to be having a go at someone, especially me, for the number of times I didn't play, or the way I played, and Mark Hughes for his results.

With me it was always, 'Why is Giggs playing so much in the middle when he should be out wide providing the crosses?'
