It emerged last night that NHS trusts are in the process of increasing supplies of disposable masks and respirators in case the H1N1 virus spreads further.

We're Working to Prepare in Wales and Have Been for the Virus's Arrival for Many Years' ; Numbers Being Investigated for Swine Flu in Wales Rise to 27

The World Health Organisation has raised its influenza pandemic alert to level five, indicating that a global pandemic is imminent.

The change was a worldwide call for countries to increase their pandemic preparations.

Although there are no confirmed cases of the virus in Wales yet, the number of people being investigated has risen to 27.

There have been eight confirmed cases of swine flu in the UK - two in Scotland, one each in Newcastle, Redditch and Devon and three in London.
