Wales could be hit by more tornadoes as the effects of global warming continue, weather experts warned last night. Cardiff-based researchers Stormforce predicted twisters, like those that have hit Birmingham and Bristol in recent days, could become an increasingly common sight across the nation.

Nigel Rhodes, chairman of the voluntary organisation, said the terrifying, tilting columns of air tend to spin off from diminishing hurricane systems as they drift across the Atlantic.
