Summary
Celebrated composer James MacMillan, pictured, builds on his creative partnership with Welsh National Opera with a performance in Cardiff this week. He will conduct the orchestra of WNO during a concert at St David's Hall on Thursday. MacMillan, winner of the 2006 Classical Brits Contemporary Music Award, is regarded as something of a rarity among British composers. He's as happy to debate the importance of classical with the likes of Franz Ferdinand as he is to take to the podium to conduct his own works.
The Scottish-born composer has been working with WNO for the past eight years on a number of projects, including the score for new opera The Sacrifice, which receives its world premiere at Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff this autumn.See the full content of this document
