SIR - Regarding your account of the new Plaid logo (February 25), I was surprised by the claim made by Aled Phillips of the design company Departures that the Welsh poppy is unique to Wales.

Anyone visiting the Lake District during the summer months, especially in the south around Windermere and Coniston Water, will see these attractive flowers everywhere - in fields, on roadside verges and in cottage gardens.
