RURAL Affairs Minster Elin Jones has announced that the scallop dredging season will remain closed until next spring, following a 15- fold increase in dredging activity over recent years at Cardigan Bay.
Environmentalists believe that scallops should be hand-picked by divers like they are in Scotland, rather than dredged like they are in Wales, because it is a process which scrapes up and destroys a wide Fishing Order and on proposals for the future management of the scallop fishery.See the full content of this document
