Summary
Welsh soprano Sarah-Jane Davies completed a run of three performances as the Countess in this sparkling English National Opera with the cheers of the audience filling the London auditorium. The Neath-born singer gave a performance that was both highly polished musically but also displayed strong stage presence and dramatic interpretation for this role which includes two of Mozart's most beautiful arias.
Olivia Fuchs's splendid production places the piece in the 1930s, a time of great change, not only in architecture and fashion, both of which are enthusiastically embraced in this show, but also social change.See the full content of this document
