Three or four tries were spurned. What would have been one of the great scores, from Gareth Thomas, was ruled out for crossing. Gethin Jenkins also went close, Shane Williams was forced into touch at the corner and a multiple overlap was wasted by Michael Owen's long pass.

Having sewn the victory up soon after the restart, Wales didn't score a point in the last 32 minutes, as they went off the boil and lost control of the game. The forwards were unable to provide the platform of the first half, while the Scots stopped turning over so much ball.
