Summary
Sir - Your editorial last Tuesday says we should do more to recycle our waste. Right, so we should. But Cardiff Council is busy destroying our current environment in the name of protecting the future. In the name of recycling the council has suddenly dumped two huge wheelie bins on every household in our area. As these are streets of terraced houses, the effect is that more than half the houses now have two huge rubbish bins on prominent display in front of the house. There is nowhere else to put them. Our once neat streets have become an instant visual slum.
Neighbouring areas have yet to have their wheelie bins forced on them, and the contrast is dramatic. Those streets look nice, ours look horrible. It is time to stop this madness and have a rethink. There must be a better way of handling and recycling rubbish which does not involve every householder in a mid-terrace having to walk past their bins as they enter the house, and every street becoming lined with bins on permanent display.See the full content of this document
