SIR - With reference to Elizabeth Mann's letter from Darlington on July 25, we are proud that our community wind farm has been selected as a case study in new planning guidance for wind energy.

We are chuffed that John Prescott thinks it is the 'best thing since sliced bread' as claimed by Elizabeth Mann. This recognition builds on practical projects undertaken by AAT which mean renewable energy and energy efficiency bring practical benefit to ordinary people - 40 solar hot panels on local homes and community centres, a photovoltaic roof in Ysgol Gwaun Cae Gurwen, one of the first district heating schemes using wood, energy efficiency advice to more than 4000 people, 10 local people trained and employed at AAT.
