I can't remember believing in Father Christmas. I do remember thinking that if I admitted not believing, my stocking might stay empty, so I'd better go along with it. But grown-ups are always smarter than you think - they saw through my attempts to deceive as easily as I'd seen through theirs.
One little boy was more outspoken, and told the Sunday school teacher: 'Miss, I don't believe in the Devil any more. I think it's only like Santa Claus. It's really your father.' Since then my Christmases have usually been merry without being supernatural.See the full content of this document
