In fact, in many ways the company should be named Bessy's, Dinah's and Rachel's - after all, it was Bessy, or Elizabeth, Rachel's grandmother, who started Brynllys Farm in Borth, Ceredigion in 1924 And it was her and her daughter, Rachel's mother Dinah's firm belief that nature knows best, which underpins not only the brand but the way Rachel now runs the farm and conducts her life.

"I had very good role models to help me through the difficult times," says Rachel, who sold the company 10 years ago but keeps her hand in by doing consultancy work with the new owners.

"You do have difficult times when you're in business, but your strength comes from what happened before and I look back to my grandmother and mother.

"It helps enormously in the decisions you have to make as you go through life. You think, 'I know that Grandmother would have done it this way, or Mother would have done that' and that's the way you go then because you know it worked for them. It gives you ...
